About Me
Born in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, I was raised to always
put others before myself. Having an
older brother made the journey a little rougher than expected, but I soon
developed a love for people and making them happy. Throughout my life, I have had many jobs that
served people; such as a waitress and a cashier. The most important thing these jobs taught me
is that it is the little things that make the biggest difference. Along with working with people, during my
school years I also found another love of mine: sports. I enjoyed being active and being part of a
team. Win or lose, the team was always
there for each other. I played
basketball and volleyball throughout my career at Greencastle, varsity
lettering 7 times. As my high school
career was coming to a close, I came to the realization that I needed to pick a
career that would suite me in all my faucets of life, but really wasn’t sure
just what that was at the time.
I chose to attend the Pennsylvania State University after attending the Penn State Dance Marathon that raises money for pediatric cancer, and fell in love with the campus and the school, and found my passion for people developing into a reality. I originally started my freshman year as a Nutritional Science Major. I enjoyed nutrition, but it just didn’t feel like it was filling my void. Many of my friends pursued Elementary Education degrees, and made me think twice about becoming a teacher. In an attempt to suit the “people person” side of me as well as my love for physical activity and learning about the body, I decided to switch majors to the Physical Health Education Teacher Education (PHETE) option in Kinesiology. I have never been happier with my choice as I started going into the schools and working with the students. I realized that the combination of physical activity with children is exactly what I had been created to do. I enjoy waking up everyday know that I made the right decision for future. My dad always told me "do something you love and you will never see it as a job." I feel that teaching students to live healthy and active for life is just what fills each faucet of my life.
In the future, I plan to seek fitness certifications to become a group instructor or personal trainer.
